Snapchat has published a new update on how its users are dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, and its various impacts, providing insight into evolving habits, purchases, concerns, and more. The results come via in-app surveys, with varying levels of response (almost 2,000 users responded to one of the questions, but each saw different rates). As such, it’s a relatively small subset of Snap’s 229 million daily active users, but it does provide a window into how younger audiences view the pandemic.

NVIDIA and Mercedes Partner to Create a Next-Gen Car Computer

Touted as “the most sophisticated and advanced computing architecture ever deployed in an automobile,” per an NVIDIA press release, this new software system will enable Level 2 and 3 driving autonomy — that’s on par and exceeding the current abilities of Tesla’s Autopilot, respectively — and Level 4 parking autonomy. That means that the vehicle will be able to, by and large, fit itself into parking stalls without any help from the human driver. There will still need to be a human on hand in case things go catastrophically sideways, but under normal conditions, there won’t be much call for them to intercede.

What’s Digital Commerce Advertising and What Tools Can Help?
Digital advertising spending has been on a strong growth trajectory since its inception. The Interactive Advertising Bureau’s report on the first half of 2019 had revenue totaling $57.9 billion, which represented a 16.9% increase from the same period in 2018. But in the numbers was one important sign of maturity of the industry. It’s the first time that revenues for the first half of a year were lower (by $30 million) than the second half of the previous year. Advertising expenditure in general tends to be bigger in the second half of the year, as retailers push holiday deals for the consumer gift-giving season, so it’s a testament to interactive advertising’s enduring value that digital has so far bucked that trend by showing first-half results that exceed the previous year’s second-half. Still, it indicates that things are beginning to settle down into the usual seasonal patterns and advertisers looking for undervalued inventory must seek it outside of the more established channels.

Twitter has tried to stream real-time tweets along with sporting broadcasts as part of its various rights deals, while Facebook has attempted the same with different approaches to Facebook activity appearing on the same screen as TV shows.

How Using Neuroscience Can Help Capture Customer Sentiment and Predict Future Behavior
Do you want to predict the future? The ability to foretell how customers might respond to a new product or service can translate into millions. But it’s difficult to do. Success isn’t always easy. And according to the Harvard Business Review, 90% of product launches fail every year. Do you think your customers will respond positively to your next offering? You can turn to focus groups and try to get an idea of what people might like. Surveys can provide decent insights at times. And if you have a robust predictive analytics platform, you can assess behavioral data to identify patterns that might indicate future behavior among larger groups. But if you really want to understand how customers might respond to future offerings, you need to take a look at the brain.

Agile Marketing in the Era of COVID-19, BLM and Recession

It was interesting to me because I talk about this a lot, in forums like this and with companies I’m mentoring, whether they’re start-ups or established firms looking for their next areas of growth. It’s also a relevant question for where we are today. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed everything we know about marketing, whether you’re in B2B or B2C. Twitter Will Check if Articles Are Read Before Sharing
Twitter announced a new feature that encourages Android Twitter users to read an article before reading it. This raised suspicions that Twitter was tracking user clicks. The move is part of Twitter’s stated goal to encourage “informed discussion.” Often people share a link without reading the article. That results in click bait titles getting widely promoted regardless of the content. Click bait is generally created to trigger an emotional response by confirming or subverting a belief while the article itself might turn out to be less than what the title promised. That results in the click bait title becoming the message even when that message is untrue.
