TikTok Adds New Comment Review Option, Providing More Control for Creators

Facebook sparked a flurry of excitement last September when it announced that the first iteration of its AR glasses – currently being tested under the title ‘Project Aria’ – would be available in stores sometime in 2021, pointing to the next stage of social and digital connectivity. But Facebook has since sought to temper expectations, with the company’s AR and VR chief Andrew Bosworth noting that the first stage of its wearable device will not be fully-AR enabled. But that next level is coming, sometime on the horizon – and today, the company has provided some more insight into its plans for AR, and engagement with digital devices that it says will form the next major computing shift.

YouTube Looks to Provide More Tools to Tap into the Rise of Connected TV Viewing
YouTube has outlined the opportunities of Connected TV viewers and eCommerce on the platform in a new update on its product roadmap, and plans for future developments. As part of a new blog series, YouTube’s chief product officer Neal Mohan is outlining specific trends that the platform is seeing, which will inform its approach for future developments. In his first update, posted last month, Mohan outlined the growth of its new ‘Shorts’ platform – YouTube’s answer to TikTok – while also pointing to new monetization opportunities for creators.

Google May See Web Pages As Duplicates if URLs Too Similar
Google uses a predictive method to detect duplicate content based on URL patterns, which could lead to pages being incorrectly identified as duplicates. In order to prevent unnecessary crawling and indexing, Google tries to predict when pages may contain similar or duplicate content based on their URLs. When Google crawls pages with similar URL patterns and finds they contain the same content, it may then determine all other pages with that URL pattern have the same content as well. Unfortunately for site owners that could mean pages with unique content get written off as duplicates because they have the same URL pattern as pages that are actual duplicates. Those pages would then be left out of Google’s index.
