Meta Begins Training its AI Tools on EU User Data
Meta’s taking another step forward with its AI tools in Europe, with an expansion of its AI training to posts shared by EU users, beginning this week. Which is especially significant, given the various delays and challenges that Meta has faced in gaining approval for EU data usage, under the region’s more stringent data privacy rules.

Did Meta Allow TikTok to Grow in Order to Dilute the FTC’s Antitrust Case?
Here’s an interesting question: “Did Meta halt its efforts to stop TikTok’s expansion in the U.S. in order to strengthen its defense against the FTC’s antitrust case?” Because, at one stage at least, Meta was playing a role in seeding concerns about TikTok, as the Chinese-owned app gained traction in the U.S. Back in 2019, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had a private dinner with then-President Donald Trump, in which they reportedly discussed, among other things, the threat posed by Chinese social media apps in the U.S., and TikTok specifically.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Confirms Planning Open Source AI Model
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently said the company plans to release an open source model more capable than any currently available. While he acknowledged the likelihood of it being used in ways some may not approve of, he emphasized that highly capable open systems have an important role to play. He described the shift as a response to greater collective understanding of AI risks, implying that the timing is right for OpenAI to re-engage with open source models.

LinkedIn has launched a new “Create on LinkedIn” hub that helps professionals create better content, understand their stats, and use different post types. The new hub is organized into three main sections: Create, Optimize, and Grow. It also includes a Creator Tools section with specific advice for each post format.
